Time is an Illusion

Today I finally made space to put my hair mask on. Several days ago I put some Walnut shells into water to soak so that I could make this mixture for my hair. The shells only needed to sit for six hours, but I guess the tint needed more intensity because they have been sitting for days. I mix it with Amla powder and make a runny paste to apply. For anyone wanting to try it, I developed this recipe from extensive research into natural hair dyes so, it is a dye, but it also makes my hair soft and healthy. I have yet to get my gray strands to take the color, so I only use it as a mask but here is the recipe.
Start by putting 4 Tablespoons walnut shell powder in a glass jar with 1 Cup water and allow to sit for 6 hours. Then, in a mixing dish, put 1 Tablespoon Amla powder and 4 Tablespoons Walnut water and mix into a runny paste. I use a hair dye kit with a collapsable bowl and applicator brush. It makes it much less messy. Mix up really well and then apply to sections of hair until all hair is covered. Keep applying until all used up. I have a short bob of fine hair and this is plenty for that, but if you have thick long hair, you are going to need to double or triple the recipe. Wrap head in plastic bag and leave on for an hour. Rinse off thoroughly.
Tip: Clean up brush and bowl immediately and it will be much easier that leaving it for later.
While the hour ticked down, I chose to put together a botanical building set and enjoy time rather than wait for it to be over. I plan on taking a shower to rinse the mask off and finishing off with a rosemary rinse that I have already sitting in my refrigerator. What a lovely way to honor the passage of time with elements of nature in the middle of winter.
