Best Medicine

Yesterday, I started reading the next book in the Holmes and Hudson series, by Martin Davies. Its title is Mrs. Hudson and the Blue Daisy Affair. The thought came to me that I should make a pair of earrings to, I don't know, match or celebrate the book. I looked around for ideas for the earrings I wanted to make and came up with a plan, which I will start making shortly. This morning, my laptop wallpaper changed to daisies, and I thought to look in my botanical deck to see what Daisy has to say.

Daisy is considered common and perhaps boring to some plant lovers, but she can heal a bruise or quiet inflammation, and she shows us how nature doesn't display jealousy, but the way she distinguishes herself is simply to be. "Loving ourselves as we are is the very best medicine."
What I love about the book series is the respect each character gets. This version of Sherlock Holmes is one of my favorites because of the trust he puts in his female staff. Then the respect is passed down the line from Mrs. Hudson to the maid and messenger boy. Thinking about the atmosphere written in the book seems to remind me of the message of the daisy. Each character in the book lives in their own space, and the friends they live the fictional story with encourage them to be the best version of themselves. It speaks to me of how life could be and perhaps how to choose the people you walk the journey with wisely. In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Fiction reveals truth that reality obscures."
