Spiral of Life

Growth is not a straight line but a spiral. Each phase brings its own wisdom. Often, I go from one thing to the next without pausing in between. I have a good deal of inward motivation, which is wonderful; however, rest is just as important as action. Today, I finished a week's run of earrings and was preparing to start more when my inner voice sent me a message to stop and rest. I have a very full weekend, and a little anxiety stands just off stage waiting for me to give it the cue to take over. I have no intention of giving it any lines, but I have been stubbornly advancing instead of allowing flow because I am still learning that ignoring myself and soldiering on is not bravery but neglect. The entire universe functions on a spiraling motion, and there is also a slingshot effect, which reminds me that life swings to the far ends as well, and that's ok, because it always returns.

Today, I got a small plate and decided to paint it in my own way, but as often happens to me, my mind was cluttered with options. However, I think I've settled on a circular pattern since that is what is on my mind, and it would suit the shape of the plate well. Sometimes I have a hard time hearing my intuition because of all the mental noise, and then I still push back the voices of abusers. As I sit with my thoughts, a sense of release comes to me. Though I have not quite succumbed to this release, I know that is where I need to go. And, now, I think I am trying too hard and need to save the painting for another time.

The ancient peoples used spiral symbols in their art and lives, indicating the winding journey inward to truly knowing and loving ourselves. This, then, is the meaning of life in many ways, not only understanding but feeling and thus behaving as an important wonder in this universe of wonders. Compiling information and learning it has its rewards, but living with fullness of depth, contrast, and effect, truly experiencing with that knowledge allows us to be a creator of beauty.
